Living Intent Yurt Company began over ten years ago in the woods of Northern Maine, sparked by founder Caleb’s love for woodworking and alternative housing. What started as a backyard project quickly grew into building yurts for friends, neighbors, and music festivals—until he packed his tools into a well-worn van and headed west to Grass Valley, California.

Caleb now lives full-time off-grid on ten acres, building his homestead alongside his loyal companion, Makita, and testing his designs firsthand. Living this way—through the wins, challenges, and everyday realities—has shaped how Living Intent designs and builds, grounding each structure in real-world comfort, durability, and performance across climates.

That perspective carries into every project we take on. Our small but mighty team brings round houses to life nationwide—from multi-unit installations for a Waldorf school in Santa Barbara to a waterfront retreat in Kauai to remote off-grid shelter in Alaska. By pairing advanced machinery with skilled craftsmanship, we build precise, high-quality yurts designed to last.
